Since the KARL STORZ company was founded in 1945, more than half a century has passed - a period of time during which the enterprise has written a significant chapter of medical and technological history. Karl Storz had a vision which was transformed into reality and has been extended through to this very day thanks to pioneering discoveries and inventions.


History 1945 - today

History 1945 - 1960
Karl Storz establishes his company in Tuttlingen at the age of thirty-four. The company continued to expand in the years that followed.  more

A further milestone is the introduction of the HOPKINS® rod lens system.  more
History 1977 - 1992
The first 3-Chip-Camera produces endoscopic images of unprecedented brilliance.  more
History 1993 - 1999
The first integrated OR1™ operating room is introduced. Launch of digital documentation with AIDA - the first documentation and archiving system from KARL STORZ.  more
History 2000 - today
KARL STORZ launches the first mobile documentation system in the field of industrial endoscopy. Existing product lines are further enhanced.  more
