Prof. Mehran Anvari received a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom in 1983 and a PhD from the University of Adelaide, Australia in 1996.
In 1999, Prof. Mehran Anvari spearheaded the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS), a McMaster University Centre located at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. CMAS is a centre that develops telemedicine technologies to help Canadian physicians in isolated communities gain better access to the latest medical knowledge, techniques and specialists. Prof. Anvari is currently a professor in the department of surgery at McMaster and since 1999, is also the Director of the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery.
In 2003, Prof. Anvari, at St. Joseph's Healthcare successfully performed the world's first hospital-to-hospital telerobotics-assisted surgery on a patient in North Bay, Ontario, nearly 400 kilometres away from Hamilton.
Prof. M Anvari has a fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Erik Dutson, MD

Dr. Dutson was trained at Eastern Virgina Medical School. He completed five years of general surgical training. He is a Board certified general surgeon with one year of experience in private practice. He is currently undertaking a two-year fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery and robotics. Dr. Lael Forbes got her Doctor of Medicine degree at Albert Einstein Medical School, Bronx, New York in 1994.
Dr. Forbes has a mini-fellowship in minimally invasive bariatric surgery at Montefiore Institute for MIS, Bronx, New York. She also worked as a fellow in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the European Institute of TeleSurgery (EITS)/IRCAD, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg, France.
She did both her Internship and Residency in General Surgery in St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York City, New York.
From February 2002 to May 2004, she was an instructor in the Guthrie Clinic Residency Program, Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. She is currently Assistant Professor in the University of Buffalo (SUNY) Residency Program and also Assistant Director at Kalieda Health Comprehensive Weight Loss Center.
She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is also a member of Doctors without Borders.

Faek Jamali, MD

Dr. Jamali was an active surgeon on the staff of Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He is Assistant Professor of Surgery, Rush Medical College, and Chief, Section of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and has also completed two fellowships, one in Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh and one in Laparoscopic Surgery at the European Institute of TeleSurgery. He has an active interest in the oncologic applications of laparoscopy both in basic science and the clinical arena and has been developing a program of laparoscopic colorectal as well as hepatobiliary surgery at Cook County Hospital.
